Destiny 2 Will Be 60FPS (Or More) On PC, Run Only On Battle.Net

Destiny 2 is coming to PC, and as you may expect, this version will give you far more of those sweet, sweet frames than the PS4 and Xbox One versions. It’ll also run on Blizzard’s rather than Steam or another PC distribution service, which is an interesting choice.

First, via Bungie, here’s what the PC version of Destiny 2 offers:

4k Resolution Support (3820×2160) Uncapped framerate Full mouse and keyboard support with custom key mapping Text chat Adjustable Field of View Detailed PC settings screen 21:9 monitor support

Bungie hasn’t yet said anything about cross-play between platforms, although I can’t imagine that happening for PVP simply [...]

Everything We Learned Today About Destiny 2

Today at an event in Los Angeles, Bungie gave us our first look at Destiny 2, a video game about the crazy antics of Peter Dinklage. It’ll be out on September 8 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Destiny 2 is going to be “a new beginning” for everyone, both new players and old, director Luke Smith said at the start of the presentation. “There have been three things rattling around in our heads,” he said before listing the pillars Bungie used to envision their Destiny sequel. The first: “A world that pulls you in.” The second: “Amazing things to do.” The third: “Always someone to play with.”

They’ve changed Crucible to 4v4 for all modes.

They’re going to make [...]

Alan Wake is disappearing from Steam after this weekend

According to a tweet by Remedy Entertainment, Finnish creator of Alan Wake, its atmospheric horror game will be “removed from stores” (including Steam) on May 15 because of “expiring music licenses.”

One of my favourite things in Alan Wake is the song that plays over the end credits of each episode, including Up Jumped The Devil by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and In Dreams by Roy Orbison. But it seems the inclusion of these songs has forced Remedy to remove the game from Steam.

The developer is ‘celebrating’ this news with a so-called Sunset Sale, offering a 90% discount on the game from May 13 (10am PST) until the game [...]

Nvidia Demo Shows What the Future of Final Fantasy Could Look Like

Nvidia showed off a Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy 15 character rendered in real-time on its upcoming Nvidia Volta GPU technology during the recent GPU Technology Conference 2017 event. The short video shows what Final Fantasy games could look like once console GPU technology eventually grows up to Volta’s potential. Volta GPUs are likely to become available for enthusiasts in 2018, but that kind of console performance likely won’t arrive for years beyond that.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy 15is Square Enix’s latest feature-length movie made entirely in computer graphics. In order to achieve the kind of fidelity they need for a feature film, the entire film is animated as if [...]

Halo Fan Creates Real Life Cortana Hologram

When Microsoft made the decision to port a Halo-inspired AI assistant named Cortana to Windows 10 and Xbox One, there were many fans of the series who appreciated the gesture. The transition meant that Cortana was now a disembodied (albeit friendly) voice, no longer featuring the totally-not-nude body she had from the Halo series. One fan, however, wanted to experience what Cortana would be like if Microsoft had developed the assistant with her holographic humanoid body in tow.

The result is an AI assistant capable of responding to user queries, swiping and sliding tiny versions of different applications with her holographic body. The impressive interactive display was [...]
