Since the event’s announcement earlier this month, Destiny 2 fans have been greatly looking forward to the gameplay reveal on May 18th. This week, however, developer Bungie gave fans even more reason to be excited, as it confirmed hands-on for the event will follow the initial stream.

While Bungie and Activision had yet to divulge the full extent of the May 18th Destiny 2 gameplay reveal, invites went out to select media and influencers for the hands-on event. Among other things, the invitation included confirmation that Destiny 2 would be playable on PS4 and PC, and that attendees could capture footage for sharing later.

Don’t fret Xbox One gamers, Destiny 2 will be coming to the platform, but Activision and Sony have once again partnered for Destiny. That means all trailers and marketing will include a PS4 logo, and players on Sony’s platform will get exclusive content when Destiny 2 releases in September.

First Destiny 2 Gameplay on PC

For most people the Destiny 2 hands-on event might seem inconsequential, but it means quite a few things. For starters, those who are curious to know the various ins and outs of Destiny 2’s gameplay will have numerous videos and preview posts to scour for any and all details.

Secondly, and more importantly, the event will also include PC gameplay footage for Destiny 2, so curious non-fans will be able to see what Bungie is cooking up. For all intents and purposes, this will be the first time that players can see Destiny 2 running at its peak, with 60fps frame rate and high fidelity visuals.

Granted, some fans have tried to mimic the 60fps look to show how Destiny could look on a PC, but nothing compares to the real thing. There’s even an argument to be made for the console side – that once Bungie said goodbye to PS3 and Xbox 360, the studio opened itself to the potential of a better looking game. And that’s taking into account Destiny 1 has a lot of visual polish as a split-gen game.

May 18th is the day, so make sure to visit Game Rant for all of the details coming out of the Destiny 2 gameplay reveal, including footage of the game in action on both PS4 and PC. Initial story trailers suggest players are in for some major changes, but it’s the gameplay that will show fans how much Bungie really is mixing up the formula.

Destiny 2 releases September 8, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
